"Pansexuals are bisexuals
who are just fancy snobs
in need for a 'cooler' word
to fancily name their flaws"

I've heard this said so many times
and yet believe it be untrue
it's scared people telling lies
people scared of something new

First of all I'd like to say
sexuality isn't wrong
there is no need to point it out
and call it a flaw

It's a normal part of us
how nature let's us come
there's homosexuality in all living species
and homophobia in one

Now for there difference
of pansexual and bi
Bisexuals usually have tendencies
Pans give everyone a try

We don't care
if you're from here or there
don't mind the colour of your hair
or the kind of clothes you wear

Bisexuals say "boys and girls
but I prefer one side"
there's nothing wrong with saying that
there's nothing there to hide

All we pans really care about
Is who you are and have been
Is loving you for who you are
really such a sin?
Tried my best to put my feelings into words here. No hating please. And always remember: We define labels, labels don't define us.

This explains pansexual quite well: [link]

Yes, I am aware that some bisexuals do not always have tendencies (note the word usually in the line) and that pansexuals may have tendencies. I simply did not write it that elaborately because it's a poem. It wasn't meant to offend anyone or anything. Those that it did offend might want to consider taking this less seriously. Again I'd like to remind: it's a poem, not an informative paper (though I am actually working on one of those, harder than you might think). So everyone: chill out and just love ♥

Er, bisexuals may not have a preference...pansexuals may have a preference...you can't know without asking the person. The only requirement for pansexuality is potential attraction to all genders.

Er, yes I know. As I said to multiple people, I did my best and it is flawed, but I do find it a rather hard topic to explain and this is the best I could do. If you can't accept the fact that me and my poem's aren't perfect, you are more than welcome to leave.

I had to give this to my friend because she kept saying "No, a pansexual is someone who likes pans". He wasn't even joking.

Or just show support and not joke about it. If people actually would be nice about it, instead of saying bullshit, i'd gladly explain it.

Absolutely true. Not many people get this ... and trying to explain what a Pan is to others is difficult ... they turn around say oh ... you're just bi ...

Exactly. I've identified as Pan for a long time. Gender, race, etc does not matter to me. I've been with boys, girls, and pretty much everything in between. It shouldn't matter what a person is for us to love them. All that should matter is that they make you happy. <3

Exactly, why do we have to care about gender? To me personality is all that counts, the level of attractiveness of a person depends mainly on their actions and behavior not their physical aspects. I'll fall for a beautiful soul, not a beautiful face <3

Totally agreed. If you can make me laugh, and you honestly love me then I don't care what you look like. All that matters is the person, not their looks!

I'm the president of the Gay-Straight Alliance club at my high school and on the first day I told them I was pansexual and there was a girl who was all up-in-arms, telling me that there's no difference between bisexualism and pansexualism. I'm a writer myself, so I did my best to explain it, but at the time I hadn't quite found the words yet. If you don't mind, I would like to use yours as a jump-off point to really define myself.

this poem, and the one you recently got a DD on are just unbelievably touching. :happycry: every stanza; every word just fills me with emotion. I've always seen people like blank slates... until I know them, I can't say I like them. sure, I can tell if someone is beautiful or not by visual standards, but I could never be attracted to someone unless I've seen who they are on the inside. The more rude a person is, the uglier they appear to me and the more kind a person is, the more beautiful they seem to me. genders aren't the only thing irrelevant to me, but their appearance and physical traits too. I wouldn't care if someone was a boy, girl, transvestite, transsexual, ugly or beautiful, hermaphrodite... as long as their personality shines, that's all that matters to me. it's what feels right; and certain parts of this poem really hit home and reflect those feelings. like "All we pans really care about
Is who you are and have bin"
but my favorite part is:
"It's a normal part of us
how nature let's us come
there's homosexuality in all living species
and homophobia in one" it nearly brought me to tears. It's short, simple, and heart-wrenching all at the same time. I couldn't agree with it more.

this poem is just so lovely, and I am so happy to have read it.... it really made my day.

Not sure if you're confusing me with someone, but I can't remember ever getting a DD o_o

And it is great to see people who feel like me that the personality changes the attraction because, as I already said to someone else, a person can as be attractive as they want if they don't have a good heart/personality they're ugly to me.

I am honored that you like my work and I an so glad it made your day. Such things always make me happy.

Somehow I find this offensive towards bisexuals. Claiming that bisexuality is nothing more than tendencies. The whole thing just seems to defend one sexual preference in the expense of another, and that's just wrong.

As I already told someone else: I tried my best to put it to words and I know it's not perfect. Bisexuality is of course more than tendencies, but it is very hard to explain the difference. Therefore I accept that that may be your interpretation of the poem, but that is not at all how it was meant.

^ GOT GOOSEBUMPS DUDE!

T-T I'm tearing up like a baby over here, I just find this poem so freaking touching. Especially the very last verse... I am also a pansexual..and somewhat polyamorous..and I go through a lot of judgement and misconception too. I started out thinking I was bi but like you said in your poem bisexuals like boys and girls and prefer a side...but I like boys, girls, inter, androgynous, genderqueer, trans...I simply can't discriminate based on the physical exterior...it's just not that important to who a person really is. It's not that I don't notice looks..I just am swayed by personality so much that the looks become irrelevant. Also, the way I perceive a person's appearance will change if they show big shifts in character! A pretty girl can seem very ugly when she is being mean/ugly to others. Vice versa, someone who was moderately attractive can become irresistible to me if their personality is right.

Thanks for shedding some light on this subject. I haven't explored pan art and literature much at all but now I think I will. Thank you <3
